Arc Flash Analysis

The Arc Flash Module investigates a worker’s potential exposure to arc flash energy with the purpose of preventing injuries and determining the appropriate levels of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Based standards such as NFPA-70E 2012, IEEE 1584-2002, IEEE 1584a 2009, IEEE1584b 2011 and CSA Z462, the incident energy and flash protection boundaries are determined. The module determines the bolted Short-circuit current (3-Phase and 1-phase) and calculates the individual arcing current contributions and arc fault clearing time of all the protective devices involved in the arc fault. In addition, ETAP determines automatically the system grounding configuration and other information required to determine the most adequate and conservative incident energy results.
